Dave Sandler, detoured
Jmore reported this week that traffic reporter Detour Dave Sandler’s contract has not been renewed by either WBAL News Radio 1090 or 98 Rock. Sandler has been reporting on Baltimore’s airwaves for more than three decades. Sandler said he is now looking for his next professional opportunity.
Trump disses Baltimore
In a July 19 “New York Times” interview, President Donald Trump said he would have never appointed Attorney General Jeff Sessions had he known Sessions would have recused himself from overseeing the Russia investigation. President Trump also accused former FBI director James Comey of trying to “leverage a dossier of compromising material to keep his job.” Later in the interview, the president expressed discontent with Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein, a former federal prosecutor from Baltimore. “There are very few Republicans in Baltimore, if any,” he said of our predominately Democratic city.

Wrigley goes Kosher
Kosher hot dogs are coming to Wrigley Field, the home of the 2016 World Series champion Chicago Cubs. A kosher food stand will open up at the 103-year-old ballpark on Friday featuring Romanian hot dogs, Romanian Polish sausages, pretzels and drinks. A subsidiary of the Chicago-based catering company Danziger Kosher Midwest will run the stand. Its representative, Sam Mashiach, met with Cubs officials and convinced them that Wrigley needed kosher food, according to Tablet. Wrigley Field will become the 13th major league ballpark to sell kosher food. – JTA
Gay celebs fight back
In response to the Israeli government coming out in favor of preventing adoption by same-sex couples, Israel’s LGBT community have launched a campaign. Many have accused politicians of touting Israel’s LGBT bona fides to the world while failing to stand up for gay rights at home. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who in a U.N. speech in 2016 talked about gay rights, was singled out. But the top target of criticism has been Cabinet minister Ayelet Shaked, whose Justice Ministry, along with the Welfare Ministry, helped make the government’s case against same-sex adoption, the JTA reported. Singer Amir Frischer-Gutman declared on television that gay Israelis were done making the country look good without getting government support in return. Ohad Hitman, 40, a top Israeli singer and composer, told JTA that gay artists like him are stepping up because they are “dreamers” who want to create a better world.
