You could call it an evening with a lot of heart.

More than 560 people attended this year’s Baltimore Heart Ball at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront Hotel. The Feb. 10 gala was co-hosted by Jmore Publisher Dr. Scott Rifkin, who served as the event’s chair, and WJZ-TV anchor Denise Koch, who was the mistress of ceremonies for the evening.

After cocktails and a silent auction, the gala featured dinner and a live auction; the honoring of the Watkins-Saunders Award to Dr. Martha N. Hill, dean emerita of the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing and a retired professor of nursing, medicine and public health; and live entertainment by DC Fusion.

Also honored were Dr. Neil Meltzer, president and CEO of LifeBridge Health; Dr. Redonda Miller, president of the Johns Hopkins Hospital; Dr. Robert Chrencik, president and CEO of the University of Maryland Medical System; Dr. Luca A. Vricella, chief of pediatric heart transplantation at Johns Hopkins Medicine; cardiologist Dr. Stacy Fisher, and Larry A. Waskow, PA-C.
