Former WBAL Radio and 98 Rock traffic reporter Dave Sandler died on March 14 following complications from a long illness. He was 58.
He was well-known and much-loved across the Baltimore airwaves. Here are what some of his friends and colleagues are saying about him.

RIP Detour Dave Sandler. I remember a cool moment when the Orioles were in the playoffs with Davey Johnson at the helm and he was doing a traffic report for WBAL and he whispered “Go O’s!” My thoughts and prayers go out to your family. — feeling sad

My thoughts and condolences go out to Dave's family, friends and fans.
He was an amazing guy who touched so many lives. I last saw Dave a month ago and he still had a smile. pic.twitter.com/scO0PDCTFW
Another one the good guys has left us. I knew him mostly as a co worker for over a decade, but I also saw glimpses of him as a father, baseball lover and all around goofball. The wicked west side hasn't been the same since he left. Haya kef. RIP Dave Sandler. pic.twitter.com/fD1TMgP20d

Just want to join in offering condolences to the family of "Detour" Dave Sandler, a great broadcaster and a better guy who was a friend to everyone who ever worked with him at WBAL. Fought the good fight for a long time against an avalanche of health problems. May God bless him.

Worked mornings for about 7 yrs with ‘Detour’ Dave Sandler @98Rock & @wbalradio . He LOVED talking #Baltimore sports MORE than Traffic & certainly was passionate about Os & Ravens. Devastated to hear we lost him so young. Thoughts & prayers go out to his wife & wonderful family.

My sympathies go out to the friends & family of @detourdave_ Dave Sandler. By day he was a well-known aerial traffic reporter for WBAL and 98 Rock radio, & on weekends he was a professional DJ. He DJ'd our wedding in 1998. What a good friend and pleasant man, never 2B forgotten pic.twitter.com/2NJywvo6rI

@mikeroweworks A sad day for all Baltimoreans as the long heard voice of WBAL's "Detour Dave" Sandler is silenced at age 58. He was a true "mensch", giving back to the community in so many ways.
