We are living in highly stressful times and there is little doubt that the coronavirus is affecting all of us in some way. Many times, when we have a worldwide crisis, we can look from afar and tell ourselves “this doesn’t affect me, it’s happening over there to them.” Usually, we can stem our tide of anxiety as the distance helps us, but not this time and individualistic thinking won’t work today. We need to add some new coping skills to aid us while not throwing out our useful everyday skills.
Here are a few thoughts to help all of us through this worldwide emergency:
- Be thoughtful to all those around you, in your neighborhood, community and worldwide.
- Try to remain calm. This is asking a lot of us; however, we all know that our body and mind work best in a cool and calm environment.
- Slow down. Take this time to be planful and thoughtful, to yourself and others.
- Stay home — use your time wisely to protect yourself and your community.
- Listen to your inner voice, your body, and to reputable media outlets so that you can be properly informed about the latest developments.
- Learn balance. Use what you know works for you and gives you a sense of comfort.
- Mind your physical, emotional and mental health.
Take this time of crisis and use it as an opportunity.
